"Paul Whelan has been let down and left behind at least three times by 2 Presidents," the group said in a statement. "He deserves better from his government, and our Campaign implores President Biden to urgently secure Paul's immediate return using all tools available."

David Whelan on Thursday called on the U.S. government to "be more assertive" by ensuring a "swifter, more direct response" when an innocent American is arrested by Russia.


"How do you continue to survive, day after day, when you know that your government has failed twice to free you from a foreign prison?" David Whelan said.

I honestly dont think anyone thinks its a good trade, my only disagreement is the assumption that people think Putin would have traded Whelan for Vicktor straight up and that he chose Griner instead. That part isnt true.
That being said I think Griner is an idiot, if you think its smart to carry any sort of drug into a country like that then you kind of deserve what you get.
The reason Biden did what he did was to curry favor, but thats what all politicians do. Its no different from Trump, Obama, Bush, etc. Biden needs to look like he is not neglecting certain cultures. I dont like what he did but to be honest I see why he did it. Self preservation for himself.
