In general, it is VERY hard to hit the super longshots. Consider one House risk-theory angle:

*The Vegas sportsbooks are very much tied to Management results.

What I mean by that is that...when the Head Oddsmaker reports in on Monday AM, brass won't be too happy if they coughed up a good chunk of $$. Easiest way to do that is to allow a Big M/L come home at long odds. See Soccer, for example, or league Future odds.

By shortening those odds, Oddsmaker limits their exposure the BIG HIT. It's fun to hit a longshot. Very hard to feel like you have a live longshot going In.
