Rosa Parks, born this day 1913...little known things, she was 1 of 4 people who were asked to move, the others were men, Parks was only one who refused...this came on the heels of the recent murder of Emmit Till, a 14 yr old child who was lynched and accusers completely acquitted...so there was anger and a sense of enough is enough and frustration...Parks, who recounts the travails of both her grandparents born into slavery and its brutality, was a quiet woman generally misrepresented in history as being a tired old woman who did not give up her seat out of fragility...instead...it was with the strength of a lioness she refused to be subjugated any longer...the rest is history. ..bus boycotts and non violent protests erupted throughout the south...Rosa Parks and her husband both lost their jobs following the incident and were forced to move to Detroit...they would go on to struggle financially throughout their lives, Parks was attacked in her own home by a black assailant at the age of 91...
