Sports are just so frustratingly unpredictable. Hell - look at the lakers/kings game. Kings just beat the lakers when they had lebron - lebron is out and you figure easy win for the kings... Lakers win by 33

it's so baffling how often sports work out in an extremely irrational/illogical way. It should be an easy thing - you should be able to look at trends, matchups, history and how teams are playing and pick winners but so many times - everything could be aligned perfectly and you still pick wrong

brah there's no tactic that really works. So many times you have a team that's a perfect matchup - IE a defensive heavy oriented team with a great pass rush against a team with a garbage offensive line and the defensive heavy team's QB gives up two pick sixs and you're ******...even though the defense does a great job

hell the panthers lost 21-18 to the eagles earlier this year in a game the panthers defense was damn near untouchable

The Panthers defense was NEVER untouchable. Panthers losing to the Eagles is not a shocker. Look at both rosters and coaching staffs. Just cuz team A. Has a good defensive line and team B. Has a bad offensive line doesn’t mean a whole lot. Play calling can negate a lot of mismatches.

the eagles that game 270 yards of offense - avg 5.4 yards a pass. Hurts had 64 passer rating and 0 TDs to 1 pick. The panthers defense dominated that game as I expected

of course that idiot Sam Darnold gave the game to the eagles with 3 picks. How do you predict that? He was playing very clean coming in that game

the other sports are much worse

you routinely have ace pitchers who get shelled against garbage teams and get blown out
very good teams routinely get beaten in the NBA by garbage teams in inexplicable ways

the NFL is prolly the most predictable league... Tom Brady against a mediocre opponent at home is basically always a win

Sam Darnold. There was your first mistake. Sam Darnold turning the ball over, HOW DO YOU NOT PREDICT THAT? Kid has some of the sloppiest footwork Inhave ever seen and has admittedly “seen ghosts” on the field. Say what you want about Hurts but at least he can make a play or two with his legs and isn’t nearly as turnover prone as Darnold.

Yes and you are going in the direction of how not to do it. There is no way I could look at the trends, matchups, histories, or alignments and win. But I can win by looking at all the numbers and only betting the very best ones. A coin flip will win 50% of the time, I only have to be a little better than that. That Lakers - Kings example of something so unforeseen happens can make up 97% of my bets. Beating the number by 1 point and having that be the difference that turns a loser into a winner only has to happen one time out of 40.

It's very tough. Hard to make sense of this stuff.

                                    One general rule of thumb:
                                    1) In professional sports, the margin between BEST TEAM vs WORST TEAM is NOT insurmountable. Professionals have prided, upsets can happen.

                                    2) In amateur sports, there truly can be an insurmountable margin between Best and Worst. Best player will soon be a pro, Worst player will be working at McDonald's soon.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?
