In NYC the book used to take bets over the phone and the code amount on the bet was an amount in "times". So a ten time bet would be $50 each "time" would be $5. He wouldn't take a widget or a unit bet. Does anyone still call a local book for bets? Do you express the bet amount in $ or some other term. Maybe if I explained to him that a widget or a unit was $5 he would take it?Comment -

It's been many years since I quit gambling besides a couple of bucks here and there with someone I know who has an online account. I don't really have a new vice now. I'll never forget the day I quit. I put a larger than usual amount on a NCAA basketball game. I think it was North Carolina $350 they didn't cover. I got so pissed that I threw a Michelob bottle against the wall making a dent. That was it for me.Comment -

I used to make trips to AC to play blackjack in my NJ days. I worked at the AMEX in NYC so the book was an easy connection. No I didn't bet a lot but it adds up after a few 10 time or 20 time bets.
