There is a school of thought that you don’t start chasing points until the 4th quarter. Not saying it’s right or wrong, but that’s why he didn’t do it.

That's correct.
Don't take a guaranteed point off the board with plenty of game to be played yet.
Down 10, kick the point, make it nine.
Who knows, next possession the defense forces a safety for two points, or even better, a scoop and score.
Down nine with what? 22 minutes left is hardly desperation time.

Kicker was out with a concussion and they obviously did not trust the punter to try the XP’s. I can’t say I blame them after watching his first kickoff, looked very high schoolish. Punter was the regular holder as well, so that may also have factored in slightly.

Is that why they didn't kick a FG at the end? Makes sense but these aren't long distance kicks. I can make a 33 yarder
