I mentioned this in another thread but you most definitely will be 1099'd for prize moneys. Bitcoin is now an asset and financially regulated instrument (or will be shortly) so that will either need to be reported or done away with. Likely PayPal/zelle will be utilized.
The good news is that the prize money should grow exponentially. Bad news is that there will be a lot of new faces and scammers picking away at the pools.
