I'm not going to go into the specific ways in which the security of posters is in jeopardy here, I don't want to give some dipshit any ideas.

This isn't about Brock and Rudy and some dumb posts about some guy named Seer, which I thought was just a nickname for Seaweed....lmao.

There could be security issues here and anyone who's ordered anything, including donations, can be at risk.

It's not a good thing Krackles. Literally no good can come out of what we've seen with this account manipulation.

I'm glad the "glitch" was "momentary" and I'm sure Brock is too, but it leads to so many more questions.

I agree its not a good look. I posted the same the day it happened. It seems child'ish.

But in the grander scheme of things, a posters name got changed for an hour, made a semi-questionable post and thats it.

As for security, I get your point. But I'll trust Spider that they have no access to our info.

What are the possibilities here:
A.) Pavy photoshopped it
B.) Momentary Glitch
C.) Brock somehow skirted the system and changed his name
D.) A current or former mod is trolling
E.) A poster hacked the system and changed the name

Of those scenarios, only E is concerning and its not likely that happened.

Roger a long time ago I signed up for a book through the SBR links for a contest (10 years plus ago). One day I get an email from the book that addressed me as pavyracer. I ownly use pavyracer on this site. Why would the email from the book not address me with my real name I signed up for the book?

The point is the books have all our information from SBR and a disgruntled ex-employee may be selling the info for personal gain. This is why security is very important.

I really don't know about that one. I was told about it in the middle of the night my time but there would be very few people here at the moment with enough access to even change someone's name. It's always been our policy to never allow name changes unless someone wants to forfeit the points, posting history, Pro status, and has a very good reason for it.

I'm trying to figure out what's going on with a lot of stuff so will definitely look into it but I can't guarantee I'll be able to give you an answer. Seems to be very strange and juvenile if that was the case though.

There is no way that any new or even most current staff here would have access to change his name, post under his account, know about the Seer (since most posters chirping in this thread don’t even know him).

I’m actually starting to think this is all bullshit but will check more when I get home. Has anyone even asked Brock? He can’t change his name on his own.

So how did spider notice it and was able to correct it as a glitch?

It was reported that there was a thread in PT regarding a post bearing rudy's name on Brocks account.
I went in and corrected it. no idea what/how happened. thought it was a glitch. end of story.

Spider, this is not on you, to be clear, but what does this mean "not registered"?

Spider are you a mod, do you have access to this? If you could change the name back, then could someone with your access have changed it to begin with? Spider, maybe you have admin capabilities?

We need to know who did this, why, and whether or not we can expect this to happen again, or at the very least, we don't need to know who, why, etc. but we should be told what happened and what is being done to prevent this from happening again.

You guys need to start narrowing this down.

Otherwise, the only person at SBR that I have ever known to be able to change a name is you Spider.

After all, you changed the name back to Brock. I'm not implying you did this, in fact I really don't see it that way, but there are others with the keys to the car, obviously.

The only stance I ever take is on information integrity and attacking forum liars.

If you diasgree with me or hate me, it's most likely because you lied or supported misinformation.

As far as I’m concerned I’m removing myself from this because I don’t think you guys understand that the names still here that you recognise as staff have NO clue what’s going on and have little to no admin capability other than myself. And I sure as hell never changed anyone’s name nor have I in almost 12 years even when people begged and pleaded.

There may just not be a resolution to this one guys. Sorry but this isn’t my site and we’ve got quite a few more important things we’re trying to get resolution on and/or restore back to ‘normal’.
