People should only be betting on the early rounds of the English League Cup, (known to fans as the Mickey Mouse cup), if they want skin in the game when they watch. Generally fans have no idea what strength team the managers will put out. These are little more than friendlies.

(Sighs). It's not line-ups, it's intent. If a team isn't going to be challenging for promotion or struggling to avoid relegation then they might be interested in a cup run. Some players will be looking to impress for various reasons but most don't want to be out there. There's nothing in it for them and they don't want to get hurt. Most teams will be involved in something so collectively they don't give a toss about these games. It's minimum or preseason effort. Fans don't care about these games. Norwich's stadium was only two thirds full and they were charging £10 for adults and £1 for kids.

The line-ups aren't that important, but if they were you would have looked at Bournemouth taking out 8 of their 11 starters, Norwich dropping 10 of their 11 starters, and you would have passed. It was back-ups vs back-ups and if you had to bet the smart play would have been to have backed the team that needed some confidence and wanted to show their fans they weren't going to roll over in the Premier league after starting out with 0 goals scored and 8 goals conceded in 2 games. However, that could just as easily have backfired.
