Happy for him. I listened to some of his interviews from years ago. What I liked:

*He wasn't taking shit from the defense in practice. The defense was loaded, they could be bullies. Covert was a stud, up to the challenge he faced in practice.

Laker, got a funny story for you. I was just at the Pro FB HOF a week ago:

*In the video room, they showed a Steve Largent interview.

Un-drafted, Largent was invited to the Oiler training camp. Bum Phillips kept 7 WRs ahead of Largent. Oilers traded Largent to SEA.

Bum Phillips later admitted to his handling of Largent as an error. Largent said that once he got voted into Congress...he told the IRS to audit Bum Phillips! I THINK he was joking, but I'm not sure.

Laker, I think often of those days. Such great players.

Honestly, some of the NFL rule changes have left a sour taste in my mouth. If you want to legislate contact out of the game, it's no longer football.

His high school 10 minutes from my house.

They were a doormat pretty much after he left but recently had a few good years.

He’s also in the college football hof. Great collegiate career at Pitt, and started off playing on the defensive line there
