Incredible. How are Italians so fast all of the sudden?

You have to master the exchange. You lose a lot of moment if you can’t pass correctly. You don’t have to be the fastest, just consistent. USA has been awful exchanging. Need to totally rethink their strategy.

USA didn't even make it to this race. Italy was the fastest in that race and excellent exchange technique, plus an awesome finish.

USA was embarrassing on that exchange.

They practiced for 2 weeks. That is not enough time. They need to select the runners about 90 days out and have a few alternates. You don't need the 4 fastest from the trials. Just get 6 or 7 fast guys and have them train on the exchanges. That is the most important thing. Some guys are fast but not good with the baton. I rather have a guy not as fast but can run the lanes correctly. Clown show.

Speed and technique are everything in track running events. All the qualifying up to the medal round is the great equalizer. Having to qualify over and over and over again wears them out. You have to be your best so many times which for most people that’s only a few times in life
