I doubt SBR is buying small amounts of BTC in a just-in-time manner to cover $100 orders or contest prizes. They are likely sitting on at least a pile of BTC to cover contest and store purchases over time.

So, just like many of us would do, SBR might be trying to "time" bitcoin disbursements when they are at a "short-term" peak or trending up. If BTC are trending up, they might delay sending them to try to minimize the cost to SBR.

That might explain the differences in disbursements timing from one transaction to the next.

This is correct. I mentioned this previously that a lot of my orders for bitcoin are processed when the bitcoin see spikes in price. This is a good business model as it ensures their bitcoin will last longer.
