Betting on soccer is different because a “tie” is offered in betting results, which constitutes soccer as a 3 way betting market. When betting the spread in soccer, this means the team selected will have to win by more than the spread and cannot win by the exact amount or it is considered a loss.

In the future you should look for the “tie, no bet market” when wagering on soccer

Not sure what Fan Duel is doing, but everywhere else if you bet a spread of -1 and the team wins by 1 it's a push and you get your money back, that goes for pretty much all spread betting regardless of the sport. If you lose on -1 that's really -1.5 so doesn't make sense, but if that's their policy it must be on the site somewhere explaining it.
