With more COVID hotspots popping up around the country and the Delta variant as the dominant strain, unvaccinated individuals in the U.S. may be more vulnerable than at any other point when vaccines were available amid the pandemic.
“If you are unvaccinated, this is probably the most dangerous point in time of the pandemic to date,” Dr. Sejal Hathi, faculty at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, said on “It’s incredibly important that you get that vaccine. Otherwise, unfortunately, we’re going to continue to see cases rise and with that, hospitalizations and thereafter deaths.”

These are predictions, not facts. I'm going to fade your picks here. Virtually nobody whi is vaccinating is being hospitalized or dying. The vaccine continues to do it's job. Will the effectiveness wane? Will boosters be needed? To be determined. But it's still working and I have no reason to think it won't. Biggest risk is the unvaccinated triggering a new variant for which the vaccines are not effective. But that has not happened yet. Pfizer/Moderna work against Delta to prevent serious illness and death.

The masks worked to slow the first time, but now that people have gone unmasked, I'm not sure there is really any going back. The same people that are unvaxxed are also adamantly anti-vaxx. So it ain't gonna work. Hundreds of thousands of avoidable deaths are coming.
