Any serious sports cards collectors out there?

I wanted to start collecting cards. What's a good starting point? Packs? boxes? I'm a beginner. Football, Baseball, Basketball and Hockey.

I used to be an avid collector.

Over time eliminated rookie cards and focused on auto & Game worn memorabilia inserted cards.

As for yourself, it depends if you're collecting solely as a fan, or with the mindset of also compiling more limited cards with value.

I always wanted to start a collection but never really had the finances to do that but now that I do, I want to start. lucky for me there is a sports collector's shop right near me. should I focus on boxes or packs? I'm looking to put $50 per week into buying cards to start off.

I have some NBA boxes that are worth a bit. I think it's a good investment but you will need patience if you want to make serious money from it.

Yeah I’m thinking both having a nice collection if possible and also making a few bucks but leaning more of a collection.

Probably the wise move bud, sit on the collection and watch the investment increase overtime.

No clue but If they are Brady rookies they gotta be worth quite a bit to any collector. That’s my guess.

I run a break group on fb and we focus on hockey and some football/baseball. The good thing about breaks is that you pick the team you want in expensive products instead of buying a box/pack where you rarely make your money back. The card industry is red hot right now and there is so much money being tossed around.

The market does. It's all what someone is willing to pay for it. Beckett price guide is so out of touch from reality and no one should ever base card prices/value on Beckett.

Smart but PSA is overwhelmed right now. Only accepting $200/card for card orders with a value less than $2500, $300 for cards up to $5,000 right now. Hired a lot of new personnel but who is going to risk spending that much on a card? I have a couple 89 UD Griffey Rookie cards that I am holding until prices drop.

Wouldn't buy a high end card without a Beckett or PSA grade

People don't like to admit it. A lot of people upside-down on their card collections right now. Especially modern cards, but Jordan cards too.
