Well, not as hard to do when you're European and countries are the equivalent of one state over. You don't need to be smart to speak multiple languages, it's more about exposure when you're young. You see tennis players who barely graduate high school speaking multiple languages because they travel all around the world for years. Rafa and Novak and Fed and others, they all speak multiple languages.

Learning any new language isn't easy especially when you are older.
