If that were the case we would have gotten Lebron vs. Kobe in the finals. And Stern would have allowed Paul to join Bryant. THen we would have had Lebron and Wade vs. Bryant and Paul, with all 4 of them in their primes. If it were really WWE, NBA would have had those fireworks series, instead of all the terrible finals we've had over the years.

There's a difference between gambling and viewership. Gambling was just legalized. There was no such thing as gambling outside of Vegas 10 yrs ago, or even 2 years ago, just offshore.
