#36i think his point was that there should have been a big fight but basketball is just for pussies now. its basically soccer with ppl rolling on the floor acting like they are dying from a minor slap and sitting out for a month with a bruise. the nfl is following their example too.Comment -

#37Agreed, that's why I made that post. I'm not really criticizing Archie's post, it was sort of rhetorical.Originally posted by fried cheesei think his point was that there should have been a big fight but basketball is just for pussies now. its basically soccer with ppl rolling on the floor acting like they are dying from a minor slap and sitting out for a month with a bruise. the nfl is following their example too.
I'm also making a point that there was no fight.
Soccer a great analogy and in general why doesn't Paul get whistles for flopping?
Crowder was the closest thing we had, not even beverly himself was trying to fight...lol.Comment -

#38i don think it should be a penalty for flopping. i think that if someone is caught obviously flopping then the refs should always assume they are flopping for the rest of their career unless the foul is very obvious.Originally posted by KVBAgreed, that's why I made that post. But they also fine players after the fact if they determine there was a flop whe reviewing the games, whether or not the ref called it at the time...a fact I did not know.
Not sure who all has been fined for flopping.
Bill Laimbeer is credited with "revolutionizing the practice of flopping" in the NBA...lol.
Next to LeBron James , there are no players despised more by the NBA community than the ones who flop. Flopping is the "art" of exaggerating contact when coming into contact with ...

It needs to be like MLB and NHL, where fighting is accepted and a traditional part of the game.
We need more NBA bench clearing brawls. That fighting is fine, it's part of the entertainment.
What beverly did, going outside the realm of the script, should be pounished harshly.

#42Huh? Flopping is killing soccer and the NBA and college basketball. Guys are more like actors than players. I think the punishment should be very harsh. I say if you flop, you should have to sit out an entire quarter or half. If you flop in the next half, you should be suspended the next game. Sort of like targeting in football. That shit has ZERO place in basketball.Originally posted by fried cheesei don think it should be a penalty for flopping. i think that if someone is caught obviously flopping then the refs should always assume they are flopping for the rest of their career unless the foul is very obvious.Comment -

But in general yeah, I agree.
I was glad to hear that they hand down fines for flopping with post game video reviews, but let's face it fines are often meaningless to these guys.
Flopping absolutely needs to be discouraged now, before it gets worse, and a technical is a good start.
Ruin the posession, give him free throwd, give the ball again. That should make think about flopping, maybe more than a fine.Comment -

#46That stare was vintage Chris Paul haha. Happy for him going to his first finals. Think he finally wins a championship regardless of whether the Bucks pull through.
Don't get all this chatter about everyone hating him. Think Rondo said it once... who? Blake Griffin? Big Baby? Thin skinned players. Paul's a macho guy. A lot of American ballers are sensitive to shouting or criticism imo.Comment -

I wonder how many people wanted to give jordan a shove in the heat of the moment.
Some guys will talk shit to you while they have the ball and you are guarding them, then talks shit while they are in the air, then talk shit while they dunk over your head.
Then talk more shit as you run back down the court.
Playas gotsa to be mentally tough. Beverly couldn't take it.

#52I don't mind a guy trying to draw a charge but the floppers that are trying to fool the refs into a call are the worst. They should absolutely call them out in the game and charge them with a personal foul, plus 2 technical free throws, loss of possession like a flagrant. 2 of them and you are gone. But I kinda think on the 1st flop, you should have to sit out at least a half and after 2, you have to sit out the next damn game. That would stop this stupid shit.Originally posted by KVBSame with the behind the back bullshit push. But in general yeah, I agree.I was glad to hear that they hand down fines for flopping with post game video reviews, but let's face it fines are often meaningless to these guys.Flopping absolutely needs to be discouraged now, before it gets worse, and a technical is a good start.Ruin the posession, give him free throwd, give the ball again. #63my punishment is harsher than yours. one game suspension isnt that much compared to never getting any close calls or benefit of the doubts for the rest of your career. you would lose every close block/charge call and never get any of the borderline foul calls.Originally posted by Mac4LyfeHuh?
