Pfizer has been fined $60m by US regulators for bribery of doctors and government officials in countries in eastern Europe, Asia and the Middle East over the decade up to 2006.

Pfizer admitted bribes of $2m generating sales of $7m between 1997 and 2006, while stressing its co-operation and efforts to tackle such practices, and that its headquarters had been unaware of what was taking place.
