James Holzhauer joins The Athletic

[dmm]

Looks like former professional bettor James Holzhauer of Jeopardy fame is writing a sports gambling column for The Athletic. Could be interesting.

Yeah, looks real useful...

What To Expect

Here are some questions a typical sports bettor might have. I hope that in the upcoming months my readers will not only find out the answers but also learn how to think like a professional gambler and use that perspective to win more.

• Should I prefer to bet a baseball game when the overnight lines come out or five minutes before the first pitch?
• If I like the Cowboys this week, should I bet them at +7 +100, +7.5 -110, or +300 on the money line?
• Are certain sports easier to beat than others?
• Should I bet at one sportsbook or several different ones?
• Is it easier to win at pregame or in-game wagering?
• Should I focus on straight bets, parlays, teasers, or props?
• When is it okay to hedge a futures ticket?

So, u think James will be a bust on The Athletic?

Does anyone know for sure that he was a winning sports-bettor?

He’s just another clown that’s all

I'm sure he was, but I bet he's made a lot more money on and since Jeopardy.

He probably doesn't do it really anymore because his current gig is a lot more lucrative and 'easier". I think he was a grinder.

Haha, ok. Did u bother to watch any of the Jeopardy shows?

James could literally TRIPLE your IQ. They guy demonstrated what appeared to be a photographic memory. Do you understand that?

Nothing like wallowing in your own misery. GTFOH.

There's not a lot that I would pay for in the sports world but The Athletic is worth every penny.

Gold very few know what it takes to make it and survive in this business. Holzhauer knows what it takes to make it, but he also had to get into a lucky window.

He hasn't been around long enough to know what it takes to survive and even he won't be able to fully comprehend the concept of the lucky window he was in.

Don't knock him Gold, he was a hard worker, for sure, and that paid off by being in the right place at the right time in the markets.

Guys like him became a diamond dozen before getting weeded and shaken out.

Gambling related or just sports stuffs?

Both. The local coverage of teams is really great. You get a lot of data regarding team depth especially in the NFL and other majors. I mainly follow the local teams but if I ever want to know about the real shit going on with a team, they usually have it.
