Favorite SoCal courses? My favorite is a little executive course [Roosevelt] in Griffith Park. As a former member of Wilshire CC, I love that course a lot, and The LACC is the best course in L.A., but I don’t like paying $200 as a guest. I like Wilson and Harding, and Goat Hill Park in Oceanside. But really, I’m not a big golf course expert guy.

Ian Poulter is a troll that says that shit every major to fire up social media because it works. Average length of golf course means nothing either, you fukkin' moron. That includes every hack muni and shithole course that scratch players don't frequent. Every course I play in AZ, the tips are minimum 6,800 yds. What's your handicap index, Rudy? You've got game. #111My brother in law qualified for US Open.
He didn't do very well.
He recently just missed qualifying for the senior open.
By just missed I mean a couple foot putt.
Just sickening how close he came. He had been working hard for it, working out too much even, but he was right there on the cusp.
Maybe next time.Comment -

#119The average scratch golfer (the top 2% of golfers in the world) doesn't play at average course yardage. It's not that hard to understand. Scratch golfers by and far away are not playing at 6,700 yds. They are playing the course from the tips. Golfholics are pretty good. Some good golfers that play some cool course. A few smoke shows appear in cameos (Paige Spiranac, etc.)
The Barstool Foreplay guys do a travel series and a four man scramble against pros that are well done.

#129If you're a scratch golfer (index) at some middle of the road difficulty course 6,600- 6,700 yds tees and that's all you play (you aren't a travelling scratch handicap) and you go to Torrey in U.S. Open 7,700 yds conditions you will get obliterated. Will you break 90? Maybe.Originally posted by RudyRuetiggerso our argument isnt really will a scratch golfer break 90 at the usopen
its what is an average golf course in usa

If you're a scratch golfer (index) at say TPC Scottsdale and you play the tips at 7,200 yds+ 7,700 or 7,800 yds. isn't going to eat your lunch as much.
I guess our argument is what do you think of when you picture a scratch golfer and what is the average? I picture someone under 40 years old that routinely plays a difficult course in the 6,800 - 7,200 yd. range. You'll have your local legends that are older guys that play the senior tees or 1 up tees that meat and potato it around but have excellent short games and are a 0 index, but to me that is not the average scratch golfer. Distance is what's going to be the factor. Give me a 0.0 index golfer that carries the ball 280 yds + and he's breaking 90 at Torrey from the Thursday setup today.Comment -
