#37I want to marry Joy Taylor.Originally posted by stevenashColin Cowherd LOVES the Clips +3 tonight.
he had Phoenix last night, I wouldn't fade him right now, he's now 13-3 ATS in his last 16 NBA playoff picks.
Some may think he's a clown but he's on fire.Comment -

#41That's why I love Cowherd, he just got done poking fun at his Clippers pick last night.
This is where I disagree with him, he just spent 10 minutes on a how a loss is a 'good loss' talking about the Nets.
I'm like "Colin, there is no such thing as a 'good loss'
A loss is a loss.
And show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser (my two cents)Comment -

#46if the team you bet on goes 0-32 from the free throw line and lose by 4 as a 3 point dog
is that a good loss?
if not, then why keep stats and models?Comment -

I'm heavy into sabermetrics and analytics (well, duh) but I still have old school tendencies too.
If I am a MLB GM even though I love the "numbers percentage book" anyways if I were an MLB GM boss of the field manager I would tell him "Joe (or whatever) I'm OK with you if you throw out the book in a certain situation and hit the hot big bat even though he can't hit a lefty for instance for shit" Play the hot stick and manage with your gut sometimes, it's cool.
But I digress. This one I hate.
Exit velovity.
I play FBB in the nationals with editors from Numbers Fire and Rotowire etc. and they are sharpies, yes, no denying but most are stuck on the new fad "exit velo"
I'm like a HR that clears a fence that's hit 90 MPH counts the same as a HR that's hit out of the park at 104 MPH.
Tell me where I'm wrong?Comment -

#48There might be a use though. Does the guy hitting the with more exit velocity hit more home runs than the guys with less? Is there an exit velocity mean or median that can then, maybe in pythagorean sense, estimate HR's, even if it's in relatively rare circumstances like vs. a specific pitcher as well as specific park?Originally posted by stevenash...I'm like a HR that clears a fence that's hit 90 MPH counts the same as a HR that's hit out of the park at 104 MPH.

Can this data become predictive or correlate to data that is predictive?
If they can get there, well then there might be something to it.
Otherwise, yeah, over the fence is over the fence and the rest is for entertainment.
