Babe Ruth Career Earnings In 2021 Dollars
The other day, on t.v., I saw an old photo of Babe dressed very well, standing in front of a huge car.

That got me wondering what his salary would be in today's dollars.

From what I can gather on the interwebs, he made about $856,000 in his career.

Year-By-Year, that would work out to a total of about $13 million for his entire career.

Mike Trout is making $37 mil just this year alone.

In 2021 dollars, Babe's best year was 1932, he made $1.3 million in 2021 dollars.

Players making $1.3 million this year:
    Adam Engel, CWS
    Jay Bruce, NYY
    Robert Gsellman, NYM
    A.J. Minter, ATL
    Jacob Stallings, PIT
    Victor Caratini, SD

I know we can't really compare today's salaries with those from 90 years ago. But it's interesting to look at.

Pro athlete salaries have exploded over time. I think the increase averaged about +20% per annum.

Athletes salaries will plateau and then decline when there are not enough people to afford to support them. Sports may become less prestige ous when A I takes over

There was not live TV back then or shoe deals or ads or sports betting, etc. A lot of the money is made from the TV deals teams make with networks.
