Doubt it.
It's just standard feel good we support you through trying times and recognize mental illness template.
Those never come with action.
They aren't going to change the business model too much to accomodate. If so, the doctor's note required get out of some part of your tourney contract or agreement will likely have to be detailed.
I wouldn't expect this to lead to much visible change. It will likely continue like I said before, if you are medically unable to fulfill any of the contract, then you are medically unable to fulfill all of it and you default.
Shit, she could do a zoom conference from her hotel room, that would actually increase news awareness of said tourney.
Then other athletes will want to do it as well.
She either gets help, takes a chill pill, and moves forward or she becomes like so many young people thrust to stardom, a burn out that disappears. I think she it's the former considering all the help that is available for what really might be a straightforward case from a clinical standpoint.
As a pro athlete she will likely be a very good patient. She'll be back.

Her heart isn't in it; that's obvious.

Yep, but with help that could turn around easily.
She's just in a bad spot, bad enough to quit the tournament. Hopefully she's got a good support system and probably does.
Even if it's all bought and paid for (although that's not ideal...lol).

Well said. I heard JA Adande make a good point this morning when he said that she made a mistake doing this through social media. If the press conferences hold so much anxiety for her, she should have had an adult conversation with the tournament officials privately to really relay her concerns to them and maybe they could come to a compromise. Instead, she goes directly to Instagram because she KNOWS she's going to get 99.999% support from that echo chamber telling her she is right and she is so brave. She doesn't want all this attention, and yet she manufactured it to play out exactly as it has. IMO she gave the tournament no choice when she didn't give them a chance to come up with a better solution.

Good for her; talking to media cockroaches shouldn't be required to play sports, being able to play at the level of play should. It's about time somebody stood up to the leeches who think they're the show.

Without the media... none of them get paid. Just like winning the lottery. You have to show up for the media to collect your reward. You don't like it, don't pick up the fukking check.

Naomi Osaka's boyfriend didn't know she was a tennis star before they met and revealed he felt 'really out of place' at the 2019 US Open. ... Osaka, 23, is in a relationship with rapper Cordae, 23. The couple previously made headlines in September 2020 when Cordae cheered on Osaka at the US Open

The fact that you have to show up to the media is ridiculous; the check should go to whomever played the best tennis, not who showed up to a press conference.

Law and Order did an episode like this 12 years ago.
Where a fictitious world ranked female tennis player had someone hired to hurt her so she would forced to retire because the media was relentless.

Cry me a river. Many chicks that played tennis growing up and didn't make it would love to be in her shoes.
The media is not even hard it’s a joke most players do it with eyes closed and think it’s funny
She’s just a weak person
The new generation doesn’t want to hear anything negative about themselves or they want to jump off a building well let them

Her mother screwed up that japanese bloodline family tree. She never cared...
