Good point on Rose. As much as I respect the job Thibs did with this team his stubbornness just might cost them this series. Why continue starting Payton if he's only gonna play the 1st 4 minutes of each half? It might not seem like a big deal but if you're gonna play Rose 37 minutes why have him come off the bench?

Rose has been good but he wouldn’t fit on some teams like the Lakers. Rose isn’t a spot up shooter and he wouldn’t be good playing off the ball with Schroeder, Lebron, and Davis. He fits on the Knicks because their guard play was trash and they need more scoring.

Lots of bench guys end up getting starter like minutes... Rose is a de facto starter, coach is just staggering his time spent with the first and second units. Payton has to soak up some minutes, Thibs is just opting for it to be sooner rather than later.

Payton does not really have to play necessarily when have Burks and Quickley, but he has been the starter all year.
