Why the Hurricanes statistically have the best chance to win the cup

You have to beat 2 opponents in your division to get to the conference finals. The Preds are not a great team, the Hurricanes own the Panthers and are a better team this year statistically than the Lightning.

I am a stats guy and the only team with more impressive possession stats than the Hurricanes are the Avs. That being said the Avs have to likely beat the pesky Wild and the elite Golden Knights just to make the conference finals.

Carolina has grit, great coaching, good special teams, if they have one question mark it is goaltending. I believe there is a very good chance they go deep.

There are 5 other cup contenders including the Golden Knights, Avs, Bruins, Penguins and Leafs (have to pick a Canadian team as one of them makes final 4).

I've bet on Hurricanes multiple times but I will be putting 3 more units on them to win it all.

I like the Panthers and think they can beat the Lightning.

They have a good coach and I almost included them in my contenders but Ekblad being out is tough.

Carolina's not bad and they didn't forget how to play, but you vastly underrated the defending Cup Champions. Regular season record don't mean much, hell the Bolts proved that two years ago when they tied records and lost in the first round. They have the best goaltender in the world, arguably the best defenseman in the world, and more depth than anyone in the league. Stats don't account for Kucherov being out all season, or Stamkos and Hedman missing a chunk of games at the end. The PP is killing it with those guys back. And yes, I'm a homer. Go Bolts!

Because those numbers were just based on regular season play and teams like Tampa were different teams in the postseason. Kucherov didn’t even play in the regular season.

That not enough and he was a zero in Carolinas biggest games like game 5. Gadreau and him aren’t the same players in the playoffs they are in the regular season, too small.

Tampa Bay best players are built for playoff hockey, they are big and physical, kucherov, hedman. If your best player is significantly undersized like aho or gudreau you aren’t likely built for playoff hockey.
