a top 100 Meter runner will take over half the race to hit top speed. and they will only actually maintain that speed for 15-20 meters.
If you took Usain's top measured speed in his world record run and turn it into a "somehow avg that" He'd have run the 100 in 8.05 seconds.
Metcalf will be in last place by a noticable margin the first 20 meters due to lack of trained starting block explosion and reaction time. He'll see himself down instantly and them prob tighten up and press, which is the opposite of what a good runner would want to do.
From glancing at this field, he's not facing many of the top US sprinters, So maybe he'll be able to keep it close with some unknown
His eye should be on staying close to a former soccer player that quit to do track named Bismark Boateng.
I'd make Metcalf +550 in a head to head vs Boateng if they happen to be a heat together.
