Cubs: Pitcher Tepera and Manager Ross Suspended After Catcher Admits Intentional HBP
Pitcher Ryan Tepera 3 games and a fine and David Ross suspended one game and a fine.

Here's the offending pitch that hits Brewer pitcher Brandon Woodruff...

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Tepera throws behind Brandon Woodruff <a href="https://t.co/TBs9w1ZLyE">pic.twitter.com/TBs9w1ZLyE</a></p>&mdash; Bally Sports Wisconsin (@BallySportWI) <a href="https://twitter.com/BallySportWI/status/1382141604794884097?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >April 14, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

But Woodruff has hit Cubs catcher Willson Contreras 7 times over the last year, including one earlier in the same game.

In fact it's so bad the Cubs later tweeted this...

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Unbelievable. <a href="https://t.co/xUIrMPS2Pt">pic.twitter.com/xUIrMPS2Pt</a></p>&mdash; Chicago Cubs (@Cubs) <a href="https://twitter.com/Cubs/status/1382180010551808002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >April 14, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

But post game, Willson Contreras did an interview, saying that when you want to hit someone, maybe it shouldn't be a pitcher; basically admitting it was on purpose.

Tepera decided to appeal the suspension instead of serving time starting today.

He must have missed the post game interview...

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">“That probably was a mistake by us. Trying to hit the pitcher. I don’t think he’s the right guy to do it...<br><br>I think if you wanna hit somebody, it will have to be a position player.”<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Brewers?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw ">#Brewers</a> + <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Cubs?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw"># Cubs</a> = Rivalry <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/FTC?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#F TC</a> <a href="https://t.co/UowSjI89gG">pic.twitter.com/UowSjI89gG</a></p>&mdash; BREW MATHs (@BREW_MATHs) <a href="https://twitter.com/BREW_MATHs/status/1382169927017234434?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" >April 14, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Ross replaced Joe Maddon and started the 2020 season as Cubs manager.

I think Ross was a catcher up until 2017 or so.

I do know that Ross is the 11th person to both catch in and also manage a no hitter.

All kinds of things wrong with this.

Cubs player crowds the plate and doesn't try to get out of the way of inside pitches.

Acting a fool when hitting a home run.

Umpire gets in Brewers batter's chest after batter gets hit.

Doesn't even have the courtesy to hit the guy. Throws it behind him like Little League.

Suspensions for NOT hitting a player after other player has been hit 7 times.

What the hell the the manager have to do with this? These are grown men throwing the ball at each other making millions. The manager didn't call for it.

MLB can't make a right decision lately.

I can understand wanting to cool things down a bit, for division rivals that have another 13 games left.
However this is an overreaction by mlb
