Well I'm off to become an addictions counselor
Getting a masters online from Purdue Global.

I already have a masters in sports psychology so I don't think it will take too long.

Question. Do I have to quit gambling or can you still be an addiction counselor while addicted to something

    Anyone have this job?

I can see you've thouroughly researched this counseling thing, Otters.

Gotta be an April fools thing.

Know this, it's not necessary (it really is though) but it sure does help to be able to relate to the difficulties of successful quitting if you've done it yourself; not tried to do it, not done it for a while or long time, but actually did it, actually quit.

      Happy April Fools Otters.

Well I figure I can quit everything except sports gambling. So I'd know what it's like to quit but also not be able to quit. Will help me have empathy for them. Double Edged sword. I pretty much know addiction inside and out

If you're not enrolled in GA you can still qualify as an addiction counselor.

No. I know you want it that way, but you don't know what it's like successfully quit, and what it takes until you've done it.

The post you just made is dangerous. Knowing what it's like to not be able to quit is not helpful, it's hurtful and does not bring anything to the table, especially empathy.

A counselor is there to help one quit, so it's the experience of being able to quit that is valuable, not the opposite.

A counselor Has to be involved in gambling to be successful

Otter you have to be in the trenches daily So you can tell your clients the dangers of gambling if you quit you will not be effective

You don’t wanna be known as a quitter
Your clients will see right through you I know you’re a quitter

I highly recommend to gamble and gamble heavy that’s what makes you

I forgot more than anyone knows here about the subject

I was approached by a major medical doctors to help them in their practice just so you know where I’m at here

As long as you’re not counseling gamblers, who cares. Junkies and meth addicts will be too jacked up to even notice.

that would look unprofessional, the right method is to use a tablet with touch pen, he can act like he's taking notes...but he's really playing online poker n checking livescores...

Ott, this is pretty easy. Just understand this: Gambling is not life.

*There's a saying that u can always leave gambling. Can come back whenever u want.

U need to feel like you're in control of the situation. Giving up gambling is really not giving up much. Figure out a different way to get your jollies.

Now you can lose more money gambling, because you’ll have more money to lose with the upgraded salary = win/win.

I guess Otters being a counselor is no worse than Brock opening up his Sunrise Debt Solutions business.

Maybe I should open up a weight loss clinic???
