LSU's Jumper JuVaughn Harrison Makes World Track & Field History...
Not only is he the first man ever to sweep the long jump and high jump national titles at the same meet, but nobody in the world has ever jumped higher in the high jump and jumped longer in the long jump.

JuVaughn Harrison does it in a 3 hour span...

Does it really help to compete in in their underwear like that? Short nylon shorts atop is really going to make that much of a difference?

              That is awesome

I don't think I've ever heard of a track athlete competing in both, much less winning both

but nobody in the world has ever jumped higher in the high jump and jumped longer in the long jump.
Javier Sotomayor (Cuba) is the current men's record holder with a jump of 2.45 m (8 ft 14 in) set in 1993 – the longest standing record in the history of the men's high jump.

                --------

The world record for the long jump is held by by Mike Powell, who jumped 8.95 meters.Jun. 11, 2018

Wow so very rare for someone to do both. I can't remember ever seeing it at any high level.

                  Different body types.

Long and triple are more explosive sprinter types.

High jumpers , typically tall, skinny, high waisted - high center of gravity, long legged Gumby looking mutha phuckers.

Gonna be a fun track spring and summer. Been some interesting performances in indoor already

Would have been a lot more impressive if he won the pole vault as well.

So how high did Powell jump in the high jump and how far did Sotomayor jump in the long jump?

                      See what I'm saying?

It only just became rare because you had never seen it before.

Before Harrison, it wasn't rare, it had simply never occurred.

I'd love to see this guy in a dunk competition. Mike Conley Sr had mad hops at only 6' tall. He could dunk off of 2 feet from the free throw line. This dunk was off his off foot with his off hand.

That is an incredible talent to not only be able to jump far but also jump high as well. This kid is unreal.

                                        Good stuff Mac.

I'm looking forward to watching this guy in the Olympics, that's for sure.

This is a not a generational thing we're witnessing here, more like a century thing or 3-4 generations.

I suppose, with all the modern changes and andvancements, we could see more of this.

But at such a high level it is something to behold.
