I couldn't believe it when espn lost the NHL a few back. They always did a good job I thought.

Being NBA ratings are rock bottom, which is inexcusable in this age of COVID lockdown with more sports fans stuck behind their TV sets than ever before ESPN figures, what the heck, NHL has to pull in more viewers than our shit NBA product.

Like all sports everywhere, the NBA has been suffering in the television ratings game, dating back to last season and the restart in the Disney bubble. That included an all-time ra

NHL went downhill ever since they left espn. Great to see it comeback. NHL 10 times better than NBA always has been. Hopefully this attracts more fans. Best sport in the world.

I'm confused??? Why did NBC let it go?

And remember... ESPN let it go years ago because of extreme tanking numbers. Don't understand why they want it back?

ESPN sucks. When they don't have NHL they regulate and treat them like minor league sport. On their website, NCAA women has a link on their header but NHL is buried and is listed above "recruiting BB". What a joke. Now ESPN will provide wall to wall coverage on them. Great, now we get to feed more to the greed of Disney corporation.

now they will have the stanley cup and nba finals on alternating nights every other year

Not only is ESPN greedy, for a sports corporation they have an abysmal track record with sports ownership.
They launched the NHL Ducks in '93 and by the time they sold in 2005 were bleeding money, they went to the Finals in 2003 and still lost 12 million dollars, in 2004 they lost 24 million, then pretty much said "maybe we don't know about sports franchise ownership.

ESPN lost a shitload of money when they owned the MLB Angels too.
Bought them in 1996, won the World Series in 2002, were about 120 million in debt with them in 2003, and sold to pretty much break even.

Two franchises that reached the finals in their sport, in a market just outside of lucrative LA, and still bled money.
For a media mogul Eisner was pretty much a moron.

ESPN even lost a ton of subscriptions when viewers switched to smaller cable bundles, ESPN was slow to react and adjust.

There's a reason why they call ESPN "That Clown University in Bristol Ct."

I don't know if he'll be back though. He was actually funny talking about hockey. Probably the only "entertaining" aspect of the NHL on SportsCenter.
