Pet microchips allow lost dogs to get scanned by a device if they are captured. Shelters, rescues, some pet stores and some police have these devices. Then the owner contact info will come up

The black market for stolen french bull dogs is unfortunately booming right now for a few reasons

If these guys were just looking or a quick score to get 2-3 frenchies that they could sell for 4-8k each. They knew enough to target the most sought after dog, so even dumb criminals like that, are doing the basic research to know to get rid of collars immediately.

the question is, did these guys know specifically that these were Gaga's dogs and be positioning themselves for ransom. I think the chances of that are not that likely, but not impossible.

if they did target her, then maybe they took steps to get a car that would not be traceable to them or go back to a location that was not their home, originally.

If they had that much forethought, they would pretty easily be able to set up a way to get bitcoin, (now that they know she is willing to pay big bucks) in return for disclosing a location where the pups were left in carrying crates or tethered by leashes to a tree in the middle of nowhere in some remote city far from LA, and far from cameras.

the attempted murder charge would make it hard but not impossible to negotiate anything without the police involved.

within 2 weeks these guys will get caught, unless they took extreme caution and planning beforehand.

Right off a sunset blvd? i'm sure law enforcement already has dozens of video to look at from the thousands of cameras in the blocks around there, to track where they came from and where they went, get the car info, license plate, possible facial images ect.

the dogs will be dead though, if they didn't know this involved Gaga, they are panicked and killed and dumped them somewhere as soon as they saw the news. a few thousand aren't worth 20 years in prison. Only way the dogs would be alive is if they had some drug dealer's bitch that paid 10k cash immediately, and the thugs went out to nab some dogs on spec to go deliver them that night. (which happens).

even then, that buyer would panic and prob make those disappear as well.
