That being said he needs to take a pay cut if he wants more protection in my opinion trade Lockett and metcalf invest in defense and 0 line go back to a running and defensive team that’s the best option

It all comes down to the Jets front office.
Spend the money wisely they can get back to respectability in a hurry.
Their front office is the reason why they are in a mess and I don't think Joe Douglas is the right man to clean the mess up.

Let's not forget their best lb CJ Mosley will be coming back and he is a stud. I'm just saying don't be surprised if the Jets r on the rise. Now do I think they make the playoffs next year? No. They gotta get a qb if they don't think Darnold is the answer which I don't think he is.
As a Jets fan just be patient..they have some pieces wth major cap space and draft value.

i suppose if they trade Wilson to do a mini rebuild, they could then trade Lockett and Metcalf.. but even then, who would start in their places?

and let's say they did trade Wilson somewhere but were able to replace him with one of these guys - Dak, Garoppolo, Watson, or Fields (draft).. wouldn't they want to keep those two WR's?

i could see trading Lockett (regardless if Wilson stays or not) to spend Lockett's money on defense, but trading both WR's would be strange if they're getting another 'win now' type of QB.
