The anthem is great but like Xmas songs, just not all the time or it gets boring. Make it for playoffs etc..

I don't ever remember anyone complaining back in the 80's and 90's when we stood for the anthem in homeroom before classes started.

I really don't care if they do it before NBA games, because that league is both unwatchable and beyond redemption. My great grandfather survived trench warfare of WW1, and my Great uncle survived the D- day landing at Normandy beach. Both of my Grandfathers volunteered for WWII, but were turned away as they were too old. My family arrived here in the 1880's, never owned a slave. Home room? What school did you attend. We sang pledge of allegiance in grade school but stopped into middle school. I’m tired of hearing the anthem and the political show before every damn game. Eliminate it only for special occasions. How many native Americans do you think really want to stand and salute the flag?

We said the pledge in grade school, but when I got to middle and high school(6th through 12 grade), the anthem was played every morning in homeroom before classes started. This was from 86 through 92.

Fukkk, every day? That would drive me mad. They played the anthem a few years ago at our voting place which was strange. Then one time I was walking into a Kroger and a guy was playing it on a loudspeaker at the entrance. Me and a few people stopped, put our hands on our hearts until he had it on repeat. I ran into the store and was a bit pissed. I walked out while it was still glaring and I really wanted to scream, ‘Cut that shit off’. Come on man.

I personally love the anthem at sporting events.
I always try to be in the stadium in time for the anthem.
But that's because I love the anthem.
I like hearing it anytime, anywhere.
But, objectively speaking, should it be played at sporting events? No - with the exception of the Olympics perhaps.
