Bad decision, absolutely bad coaching, trail by 12,should go for 4down, you trail 19 in the 3 quarter and don’t try a field goal make it 16 point game and did score touchdown at the end how come you don’t try 4 n 1 in the 4, no makeing any sense.

at that time they had outscored the browns 13-0 in the 2nd half i think and momentum was starting to turn. if they score a td on that drive i think it would have been a one score game. total game swing. not sure why tomlin hesitated. usually they are good with going for it on 4th and 3 or less.

He didn't want to given them a short field if he didn't covert and lose momentum. Figured he could pin them in defense had been playing better second half probably. Thought he could get a 3 and out or a big defensive play etc.

Vrabel basically did the same thing in the Titans game. Old school defensive minded coaches that prefer to rely on their defense than push their offenses. I leaned punting the ball in the Steeler game as their defense was flying to the ball and you could expect them to rattle Mayfield as the pressure was mounting. I think Tomlin expected Baker to screw up eventually. I thought Vrabel should have gone for it though. I did not feel as confident in their defense after the 1st half. Trying to contain Lamar is incredibly hard for a defense and you could feel the dam was about to break.

Good point. Now that you say it, I think Tomlin was hoping for a strip sack/fumble/run in for a td or a pick 6. Shows really little confidence in the offense at that point.

                      I don’t really understand anyway.I prefer you go 4 and 1 anyway,when they trail 19 and face 4 n 1 , I actually like prefer make a field goal to make it 2 positions game,so do I conservative?yes,because I play more mathematical instead risky

I understand, but if he play like that how come don’t try a field goal when face 4and 1

Tonkin is one of the dumbest coaches in football, doesn’t surprise me he made the wrong decision again
