Newton was an extreme athlete that is older now. He will not be a backup because it is not worth it to him. He either gets paid or he doesn't play.
Agreed. Winston still has upside in my opinion. Haskins too. Rougher road for both but look around the league... lots of horrific QB play and the rules are rigged in their favor. Newton doesn’t need to keep playing.

If Newton had played in the 70-80s, he's have been a All-Pro defensive end. He never would have played a down at QB

A DE playing QB is not going to last past 31. That is where he is. This is the point, you'd expect him to retire. A guy that can go out and dominate is not going to become a finesse passer.

He’s made a lot of money, great run in his career from Auburn to Heisman to MVP to Super Bowl. He should walk. Guy has a TV career coming if he wants it.

Sounds like Haskins was groomed to be an NFL QB just like Todd Marinovich. And we all know where he is now.

Small defense for Cam is his receivers dropped passes all year most players catch. Seemed like if any of those got caught the drives continue and maybe success and rhythm turns into better plays and more catches. But once those plays weren't made here and there it was all ugly right after everytime. Some of his throws were also way off . Time to retire.
