I can tell you that most police departments don't need more financial help.
Their budgets are the largest in the city and while other departments are making the city money, a large part of it goes to the PD dept to run.

Defunding has always been about less cops more community. Nobody wants zero oversight, but the citizens and the politicians and the judicial system have evolved to a more relaxed view on prosecution and incarceration for the vast majority of offenses police continue to arrest for. As such, the antiquated police model isn't working so cities want to redirect those resources away from cops, unions, and the cycle of police violence and instead put that money into community programs and other forms of response to crime.Originally posted by milwaukee mike
