The referee used the word NEGRU which means BLACK. It doesn't mean "black person" or whatever, it means BLACK. In Romania, they have people with the same surname, it's exactly as if someone would be called John Black.

Micah Richards, a former Manchester City defender said in the "post-match" studio that in no way would he be offended if a referee described him as "the black one", ESPECIALLY when you're the only black one in the group (in this instance, among the Turkish clubs managers).

If anyone is actually offended by this or thinks that the 4th referee did anything wrong then they should seriously consider seeking professional help because this thing has been blown out of proportion for YEARS now. And all these keyboard warriors on social media like, retweet and share these posts because they think that they're being these huge fighters for racial justice by actually doing literally NOTHING to address REAL racism. It's like the #MeToo idiots who say that everything is "harrasment" and because of that, women who are actually victims of harrasment aren't being taken seriously anymore.

You arent in a position of authourity. You arent sending someone off. You arent being paid.
Some people would take offence, some wouldnt. The ref shouldnt call someone the fat guy, or the Ugly guy either as that could cause a reaction..........But I think the shock value is more because it was already a heated situation, he was calling him the black guy to be sent off. Not to give him a handshake.

You probably wouldnt call him the black guy if he was to be sent off.

How would you identify him in your native language? Would the 4th ref say the one that doesn't look like the other 4 sitting on the bench? Then the match ref would have said back to him: What do you mean? The black guy?

Or the 4th just tells the ref that one of the coaches needs to be sent off. Then the 4th shows the ref who that person is without having to call him negro or by his name if he doesn't know the name. That's how simple it is. The 4th called him a n**gger, it is what it is, no need trying to weasle out of what happened.

The 4th ref said to the match ref the balck guy needs to be send off in his native language. In Romanian black color is called negru.

You should definitely stick to the stop talking part.

He called him black - doesn't matter what language, Romanian, Finnish, Portuguese. There was no need to call him black, white, purple in any language. He could have easily shown the match ref which guy was supposed to be sent off if he doesn't know the name.

Aside from that, the black coach was NOT the only black person on the bench, so he was not the only black person among many white guys.

Probably not a big deal when there are no cameras around in a fukking Champions League match, but in that situation you just can't say that.

Keep in mind that the referee is coming from a country that does not have black people almost at all. So "black" was the most obvious word for him to describe the person he was refering to - again, this was ignorance, not racism.

This is a non-story. I have a lot of black friends. No one was ever offended for being called black or thought it was racist.

The coach got mad when he found out he was going to be red carded for something he did and when he heard the Romanian ref speak in his native language he thought he was being called the "n" word in English where the ref was just saying black in Romanian. I can see why they coach was upset for being shown a red card but the ref didn't call him the "n"word for sure.
