I made this very point with my friend when the Pac-12 and Big-10 cancelled their seasons along with a few other conferences with the exception of the ACC, Big-12, and SEC...I said all it's gonna take is one death (coach or player) from covid-19 and then you will really see the shit hit the fan...power hungry attorneys and lawsuits will run rampant...not only the university getting sued, but the conference as well and maybe even the NCAA!...it will open up Pandora's box and a plethora of legal problems.

I think the point he’s trying to make is that there are long term negative effects from the virus that we don’t completely understand yet. There are things like heart swelling / issues as well as long term lung damage that isn’t necessarily seen right away. Nobody knows everything but that doesn’t mean that science is wrong or that we should just act like it’s just like any other sickness.
