    RIP Sid Hartman
Just said he passed away on SNF at 100 years of age. Long time sports columnist for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Read his column about Minnesota players since I was a kid.

When he got a quote or a comment from a famous coach or player he would sometimes call them his "close and personal friend". And this was before Facebook LOL / he had a lot of friends and was the epitome of a "homer" and never said a bad word about Minnesota players.

Yeah he never retired. It became kind of embarrassing actually.

Sid would go interview Pitino after a Gophers game and he'd be drooling on his microphone and slurring his words because he's 95 years old....

Guy monopolized the STRIB and WCCO airwaves forever.

Little known fact, Sid was the 1st GM of the MPLS (future LA) Lakers, landing George Mikan, then needing to bring in Max Winter to take over because NY of the BAA was trying to legally break the contract....Winter would later found the Vikings.

incredible icon and no doubt one of the reasons sports formed for me as part of what I like so much. WCCO sunday morning talk shows. the guys on KSTP sunday night sports talk ripping on good ole Sid. (not everyone had a fond spot for his approach! he was larger than life) . his infatuation with Bobby knight was one of the topics that did not sit well at times. He did love Coach JErry Kill of the gophers. Was nice his Team he helped created and general manage and made happen the Lakers won the title this year granted in LA he liked that. Still on the radio and guys like Dave Mona and especially MAX recently really helped extend that Sid experience on WCCO radio managing those shows and Q and As brilliantly. that day in march for his 100 years birthday when he was on was incredible, and that was the last day the WCCO studio was open prior to co vid shut down.

Saw him a few times eating at Vescios on campus with his "good Friends". what a sports reporter. Mpls Tribune newpaper today is a keepsake got myself a second copy to save with my RIP Prince Tribune copy.

Read his column religiously. That was when everyone got a newspaper.

Sid was a legend. Anyone listen to his son Chad on WCCO? Chad is a absolute clown.

                        RIP

His name is familiar in these parts of the Northeast too.

Icon, like Dick Young and the rest of the sports writing lifers.

Absolutely Fats. Barreio carried Chad for years on their show.

Sid Hartman had a net worth of 10s on millions of dollars. Chad will be let go at cco soon.

It's funny because I always thought Chad Hartman was a fraud. No talent and riding on daddy's coattails.
