I think a 5 minute mini game would be better. Play the whole 5 minutes, 3 timeouts, a 2 minute warning, just like a do over of the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. Never liked how it is now, I think that's why you are seeing more 2s at the end of the game as well.

You could set up penalty shot type situation for the kicking game. Each kicker kicks from so far out, then they back up. They could flip for who goes first the alternate, but that doesn't matter too much because they both try from every distance.

If they both fail at one distance, then they just keep going until one fails and one makes it. Maybe get out to where they both are short, then starting moving back in.

Turn it into FOOTball. line the special teams up and let them try to block as well, that will shorten the duration a bit.

remember, when there used to be a thing known as kick off returns

one good return and one good chunk pass and a team could win with a FG and that was it. game over

at least we eliminated two of those variables with the auto touch backs and FG on first drive doesn't end OT

both get it at the 50. flip for who goes when. 2nd team has to match or exceed the first team. if still tied after 1st round they go again. simple and fair cause both sides of the ball get played.

Yeah I don't like that. On the first drive, any score should have to be answered to end OT.

They get off easy with the TD rule ending it.

Are you insane? Why would you want 6 timeouts and a two-minute warning in the span of 5 minutes? As if the NFL doesn't already have enough stoppages.
