Unless a drug addict wants the help there is nothing you or anyone else can do for the addict.
He/she will just reject the help or deny he/she needs the help if one doesn't believe they have a problem.

So sad, yet so simple and true.
If the addict wants the help chances are good the addict can recover and go on to lead a productive rest of their life.
If not, they die (or worse)

If they completely run out of money and or go to jail that can help force addicts to go sober.

No he has a $100-$300 day heroin and crack cocaine problem.. He has a drug problem not a mental illness problem.

Can't blame every hard addiction in life on mental illness.. We have choices.

Still need money in jail to buy some drugs.. Can't only sell your own ass literally if you are a young pretty boy for a few bucks for drugs and protection...

I don't think you can score a bag of black tar heroin and shoot up in jail daily to keep your habit when going in broke..

Can't get high in jail like you can on the streets.. Can't pan handle in jail either like you can in the streets.. Jail does make some drug addicts go clean in time.. Wake up call..

The most stable minded people can get addicted to heroin and or crack if they try it a few times and like it.. It's not a mental disease issue.. Hard Drugs are addictive to any person sane or not if you take them and get hooked..

I've known many drug addicts in my life time, they were great level headed people going places in life until they tried that hard drug and got hooked. Years later and after hard drug and alcohol abuse and living on the streets some began to start hearing voices and talking to themselves.. That happens because you fry your mind off drugs and have a bad diet.

Doctors don't know everything pal.. I don't call that mental disease, I call that an absolute reckless life style and loving getting high and drunk daily.

It's kinda like the Adam and Eve story in the Bible, don't touch or even try that pretty little poison red apple in the garden of Eden, if you do watch out!!!!

You do realize mental illnesses like bipolar and schizophrenia are not the same as being a drug addict right? You can have a mental illness without being an addict or even having taken an illegal drug. You're reasoning is bizarre.

Those illnesses also aren't a choice or being weak. You do get that...right?

Addiction is needing something to function that you don't technically need. But, all of a sudden, you cannot function without something you don't need. It's a tricky motherfuker. There is shame at every turn and the pressure to hide the addiction and also perform is brutal.
