Media Giving Brad Stevens a Pass Even Though His Coaching Has Been Trash

Boston has had 15 point second half leads in game 1 and 2, both games the offense fell apart because of Toronto’s dipshit zone defense a 2 year old could figure out. Stevens blew game 3 against Toronto playing zone defensively and instead of sweeping Toronto the series went 7 and fatigue is showing in the series, the Celtics are shooting far better in the first half of games.

Boston has never beaten a more talented team than them in the playoffs and they blew game 7 against a Cleveland team with no one other than Lebron. Analytics have value but Stevens is too tied to them and Boston is shooting too many threes isn’t the second half of games when they get tired.

The media keeps saying this guy is a genius, he’s won nothing against equal or more talented teams and his team blew the game seven against a Cleveland team that wasn’t that talented, he’s getting a pass just like Rivers because the media likes him. No nba team with multiple all stars should be losing double digit late game leads because of basic zone defense.

Agree, Stevens has a system but he doesn’t make good in game adjustments, he doesn’t communicate and adjust while in game and in series.

Stevens did a great job when he had a Ham and Cheese sandwich for a team with little expectations.
His performance since he has had a "contending" squad is very suspect.

That being said, I still want him around for a few more years because I don`t think there is anybody out there

Tatum doesn’t move in the third and fourth quarter he stands 10 feet from the 3 point line and waits for the ball and then gets himself stuck and passes it late, makes a turnover or takes a bad shot. He’s been doing it for awhile now. In the first half he scores and shares the ball so his stats look balanced. He’s trash at the end of every game. Their offense then grows stagnant because people stop moving when Tatum is playing hero ball. Watch closer

I disagree. Perimeter shooting occurs because Tatum plays hero ball and passes to late in the shot clock for anyone to do anything but jump shooting. These guys are physical specimens. Their legs don’t just absolutely go to jello every game in the fourth quarter. It’s not plausible. Ball movement stops in the fourth because of Tatum. When you don’t involve your team members they stand around. These guys aren’t going to moving around and cutting through the zone when Tatum doesn’t give up the ball. You can see it in them as soon as he has it. They just stand on the perimeter because they have to go allow him space to drive. But you can’t play that type of ball against the zone.

I don’t disagree with some of what you are saying but Tatum is a young player, it’s not on him to figure out zone defense, it’s on Stevens and the coaching staff, this isn’t the first time Boston has seen zone and they’ve struggled against zone every time. Zone defense should never work against an NBA team, and this team has multiple all stars.
