If there was ever a game that screams over 9 tonight on paper (I said on paper, I know the game is played on grass) it's this one.
And this is why I say that.
Oakland can rake, this is not news to anybody who follows MLB.
Chapman, Olson, Canha, even Laureano all have power.
Hell even the little SS Semien has pop.
Tonight Oakland takes on the Mariners up there in the great Northwest.
Seattle's starter Taijuan Walker is a whipping boy.
He missed almost all of 2018 and 2019 due to shoulder injuries.
He's had Tommy John surgery, he once was a promising young stud now he's just a hamburger.
He's back in Seattle, he pitched two full seasons in Seattle in 2015 and 2016 and served up a ton of homers than.
His first start last week after missing almost two years he picked up where he left off with Seattle, he got shelled by Houston.
I've got no reason to believe Oakland won't hammer him tonight.
Now, let's look at he Mariners offense.
The past few years you would say "Offense? What offense"
All of a sudden out of the chute the M's have been rocking it after one weeks.
They're averaging over a homer a game.
Half their line up has an eye popping OPS of over 1.000
(Name the four Mariner hitters that have an OPS of over 1.000 and win valuable prizes)
Here's your answer.
(Where did Kyle Lewis get all this power all of a sudden is what I want to know)?
Oakland starts Sean Manaea who is clearly the better starter.
Most of his across the board numbers have been solid in the past except for one glaring stat.
Yep, he gives up a lot of homers.
Like I said, this game screams of over 9 (caution, when totals looks too easy they usually aren't) however I learned a long time ago "don't let the line mind fuk you, If you like a side bet the side, if you like a total, bet the total"
I like the over 9 here.
Not for nothing Oakland is a -190 road favorite here I can't lay that kind of juice on the road, and even the run line isn't cheap at -130. Passing on the side, Betting the over 9
Best of luck all.
