Nationals outfielder Juan Soto, who was a breakout star of the team's run to the 2019 World Series title, missed Thursday's season opener against the Yankees after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Who knows Gold, it's a highly contagious cold virus.
That said, this testing doesn't seem to be very reliable whether positive or negative.
But if he does really have it, then others on the team probably will too.

Soto was an asymptomatic positive test.
But Eduardo Rodriguez from the Red Sox a different story...
Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke said the team "discovered something that we need to make sure we get rid of this completely" before pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez gets on the field.
...Boston Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez had "minor complications" following his bout with the coronavirus and was being shut down from all baseball activities, manager Ron Roenicke said Thursday."We're taking everything very seriously in this matter," Roenicke said.
Roenicke said Rodriguez, who was projected to be the Red Sox's No. 1 starter this season, had not tested positive again. However, during testing, Roenicke said the team "discovered something that we need to make sure we get rid of this completely before he gets on the field."
Roenicke noted that Rodriguez, who had been diagnosed with the coronavirus on July 7, "was tired" after his first bullpen of 20 or so pitches...

A lot of these guys are not in the best of shape, especially baseball and football players. I won’t be surprised if one of them have a very serious health condition from the virus.

Alot of baseball players are fat. Higher chance of dying than sports like hockey or basketball.

I didn’t mean the majority of players because most are in great shape for sure. But there’s probably 50 MLB players that are in poor to fair health. Probably 100+ football players.

Are you saying just cause they have few extra pounds?? I stay in pretty decent shape even when I’m in one my 20-30 lbs heavy phases, lol. Carrying a little extra weight don’t make you unhealthy necessarily.

Once again, I didn’t say ALL players but there’s several who are walking time bombs, especially in MLB and NFL. There were several guys on my college team that had diabetes, heart and lung problems. I’m talking teenagers. Several ended up dying before 30. NFL players really blow up weight wise when they retire. I’m talking the majority of them do. Carrying extra weight is a huge predictor of worsening health.
The Living Heart Foundation has examined several thousand former players since it was formed in 2001 with financial backing from the N.F.L. players’ union. About two-thirds of those players — not just linemen — had a body mass index above 30, which is considered moderately obese.

That is very true. You can not trust anything hear about Covid, especially with the media making up stuff along the way.
