Looks like race 7 turned the tide. Gold had the 1st place horse and I had the second place horse. Closest I’ve coming to winning in a while. If I came in second place 🥈 I guess losing to Gold will go down in infamy.

I thought my sports book balance was off this morning.

I actually passed out before the race went off.

I should have bet 6. I still don't quite understand how they determine tri payouts. I have a general idea. Maybe some of you horse guys could explain it better.

It is a separate pool that has nothing to do with WPS payouts. Once the tri pool is finalized, the track takes its cut and then the payout is determined by what percent of the tickets have the winning combination. And betting $6 would not have helped you if the extra $2 was used on a different combo, it only would have mattered if you went from the 2 $2 tickets you bet to 2 $3 tickets. If you used it on a different combo, the winning combo would have still been for $2.

Thanks LT. I didn't know they separate the tri pools from the WPS payouts. The swings on the tri payouts (even with some long shots on top), never seemed to make much sense to me. I think I get it better now.

Yes, each exotic (tri, exacta, double, pick-4...etc.) has its own pool.
