They paid you for a 162 game season. If there’s only 80 played, why should you get the same salary? The team certainly isn’t making the same amount by having fewer games. Why would the employees get paid full for working part time?

That would seem to make the most sense prorating their salaries based on how many games are played but the owners aren’t offering that.

Based on this, the real problem is management, who want to pay players less than 50% of their salary, even if the season is 50% long. Owners want to reduce pay by 50% for playing only half a season, which Snell is perfectly fine with. Owners want to reduce pay even more (without even saying the exact amount) due to lost ticket sales from playing in empty stadiums, which Snell disagrees with.

I understand the knee jerk reaction to pointing at the owners and saying they are to blame, but that's not lose sight of the fact a lot of the owners have some empathy of the groundskeepers, concession workers etc. and are paying them.

It's rare I take the side of ownership, but in this case I am.

He (and the rest of the players) aren't asking for their full salary. They're asking for what was agreed to back in March, a prorated portion of their salary. Play half the season, get half your pay. The owners are now trying to renege and take a 50/50 split, which amounts to about another 15% less. In essence, half season for 35% pay. In addition they'd be on lockdown when on the road, confined to hotel after games, no family, no friends, etc. Fuk that. None of you would agree to those terms, why should they? Yeah he came across like a douche (like most 20 somethings on social media) but he ain't wrong.

Explain why when management goes against their agreement they made back months ago to pay players their prorated salary, and now wants to pay even less than that, sbr comes out against the players, saying they should be willing to play for a prorated salary.
