Casinos closed
No sports
Extra $$ in the pockets

They can't sell tickets if people are not stopping at gas stations to buy tickets.

I commute on the most congested higway in the US.
I-285
I drive speed limit the whole week. It is usually bumper to bumper for 20 miles on weekdays. No one is driving to put gas and buy lotto.

Only thing that's making a killing is COVID-19.

I've been playing Mega Millions and Powerball online, played Powerball when it was over $100 million until it hit and now playing Mega until it hits.
Powerball and Mega Millions lowered their starting jackpots until further notice. Power is $20 million and Mega will be based on a percentage of sales. They also changed the rollover amount from a guaranteed minimum with it being higher if sales are high to strictly based on what the sales are so it could theoretically increase less than a million between drawings.
Bought a couple scratch offs last month to scratch the itch, but lately have had no desire to go through all the precautions when going out and walk into one of those hot spots just to claim a $20 winner. Illinois lets you check the scratch offs using their phone app by scanning the bar code using your phone's camera which makes it convenient to make sure you didn't miss a winning number, but you still have to go to a retailer to claim them or mail them if you don't wanna wait for the claim centers to open. I emailed them suggesting they should let those with an online account be able to claim the instant tickets under $600 through their phone by scanning the barcode and having the winnings deposited into their online account (if they'll let you redeem them at the vending machine, why not online).

funny thing is here in my neighborhood a lot of the stores that sell lotto are short staff so they shut down the lotto machine.
i do like scratch offs here and there as a fun thing to do but never expect much. i had an aunt who played so much daily and literally wasted most of the money she got from selling her home playing scratch offs.

Nothing better than going in a store to buy something quick and you have the degenerate in front of you playing 100 combinations of daily lotto, buying multiple scratch offs, checking tickets, etc.
I like the guys/ladies who stand around scratching their tickets at the counter, then rebuying more with the winnings. Treating the store like a casino

our dollar stores do not sell lottery. just stale food sent back from europe is the only reason they are open. some supermarkets closed down their lottery. clerks looks at you funny if you try to play if they are open. most of them are infected and don't even know it anyway. the few people that are buying gas pay at the pump. the liquor stores, yes. some sold there.
