#73put wilt on those celtics teams instead of russell, and the celtics still win every single one of those championships
just one of the many reasons it's goofy to compare players/championships/etcComment -

#74Originally posted by Goat MilkLebron will destroy Dennis Rodman. Might make him cry but eventually Lebron would have broken through if he plays in that era, same was Jordan did eventually. Tackling guys mid air isn't basketball.
On the defensive end bron would be a monster if he was allowed to hand check and get away with so much contact!! I’ve given bron plenty of grief I thought was well deserved at times in his career but sayin he wouldn’t have been able to handle the physical ball played in that era is ridiculous imo.Comment -

just like everyone knew about tiger woods and gave him all the free passes, even though there was even a "tiger room" at the orlando strip club lol
and the media gave lance armstrong all the free passes too... until he was too much of an arrogant prick to just ride into the sunsetComment -

MM wasn't BOTH Russell and Wilt's competition primarily that too, not just as teammates?
That is the sole reason I never include those 2 in GOAT debates.Comment -

but there were really only a handful of really great players... there was no money in it
same reason there weren't a ton of great professional golfers before tiger woods... not enough money in it to make it a career choice for that many people, especially internationalComment -

#80Originally posted by Grits n' GravyLebron would have held up fine in any era. He would have dished out a lot of pain too. Stronger than goofy Laimbeer and Mahorn.
Physically he's a beast.
Even though God blessed him with a near perfect body the dude has serious work out habits and I've seen he dietary habits, he eats extremely healthy too. He doesn't take his health for granted.
Lebron has an extremely high basketball IQ as well.
Now having said that, he's never led the league in any category.
The only category he's led the NBA in is minutes played, which is testament to his work out and dietary habits.
He never dominated the league in shooting, rebounding, any of that stuff.
And he's not very clutch.
Now I'm the biggest analytical geek on these boards.
It's who I am, it's what I do.
I'm driven by numbers and statistics and all that geeky stuff, but you don't need hard core concrete tangible evidence to realize he's not very clutch.
Case in point, it was Ray Allen who hit the miracle three point shot with seconds left in game six of the finals against the Spurs.
It was Lebron who missed the game tying three point shot, it was Chris Bosh who tracked down the loose ball and had the presence of mind to pass it out to Ray Allen.
Now I am not suggesting James isn't an NBA great, he is, but he's not an *all time* NBA great.Comment -

lebron would have 2 championships without that shot... and that's even with assembling freaking all-star teams around him
kobe has 5 championships... and 2 of those the next best player on his team was pau gasol
whatever happened to the kobe vs mj debate? i thought that held more merit, kobe wasn't a choker like lebronComment -

And Russell NEVER dominated Wilt. Apparently you never saw any of those games; I didn't either.
But Wilt had some huge games against Bill Russell, but the Celtics almost always had a better
all-around TEAM. Wilt would routinely out-rebound Russell (nine rebounding titles) both in the
regular season AND the playoffs. He's light Russell up on offense too.
Chamberlain won two titles when the quality of his supporting cast improved. Those two teams
had won the most regular season games in history: 68-13 in 1967 and 69-13 in 1972.
Those records have since been eclipsed by the Warriors and Bulls....playing in a relatively
diluted 30-team league. Wilt's championships came when the NBA was a MUCH smaller
league, truly populated by the planet's best basketball players.Comment -

Evolution takes thousands or millions of years.
Not 40
People like to use the bigger and faster athletes these days.
I think it's overrated.
There's more ppl, so more ppl playing sports & mindset on working out so maybe more fit.
But if there's truth to the argument, why are super fast guys still running 4.4's and very few 4.3's?
Why aren't guys running 4.0 flat now?Comment -
