Why would a restaurant even open under these conditions when it is up to someone else to decide when you can add more capacity. The social distancing is going to be in place until there is a cure and this could go on indefinitely. They really going to open just to lose money month after month?

I would have fired everyone, closed up shop and stiffed on the lease or rent.

Many restaurants may simply fold since most can't break even at 50% capacity. Margins too thin in that business. Nevermind the fact that many of them will struggle to hire staff who are currently collecting money for doing nothing right now.

That's not true. The Mcdonalds and Burger King a few minutes from me always have at least 15 cars in line with drive thru lately.

The local pizza place by my house said they've never been busier and are doing double the takeout orders they usually did before Corona (between people wanting to support local and ordering in more).

servers wearing gloves is the worst thing. Because they will not be changing them often, that means they will not be washing their hands as often. They will be touching everything with the same pair of gloves. Money, tray, plates, tables, menus, etc. For it to really work, they need to change their gloves every time they touch a menu, check presenter, dirty plates/silverware. Then wash their hands, then replace with new pair of gloves. You think servers are actually going to do that?? Maybe at luxury restaurants but definitely not at Chili's.
